Straw Tower Challenge

Join us at Casuarina Square as we proudly host the NT Straw Tower Challenge, presented by Engineers Australia as part of National Science Week 2026.

Celebrating this year’s National Science Week theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All,” this exciting STEM event inspires curiosity, creativity and problem-solving in the next generation of engineers and innovators.

Watch teams of students in Years 4-6 put their teamwork and engineering skills to the test as they design and build towers using only straws. Once the towers are complete, they’ll face the ultimate challenge, seeing just how much weight their creations can hold!

The fun doesn’t stop there. Families can also enjoy a range of free hands-on STEM activities throughout the event, making it a fantastic day out for curious minds of all ages.

Know a student in Years 4–6? Teams of up to four students can register to take part in the challenge.
