One in two women will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85.
That’s why Cancer Council’s Girls’ Night In initiative resonates so deeply. It’s not about fancy dinners or extravagant outings. It’s about pausing, coming together, and recognising that sometimes the greatest gift we can give is simply showing up for one another.
This October at Casuarina Square, we’ll be gathering for a special Girls’ Night In screening of Big Bold Beautiful Journey, starring Colin Farrell. The film celebrates resilience, friendship and life’s unexpected turns — themes that feel particularly poignant when thinking about the cancer journey. While the movie will certainly entertain, the heart of the evening is about togetherness.
Friendship is a kind of quiet armour. It doesn’t cure cancer. It doesn’t erase grief. But it can soften the edges of fear and bring light into the darkest moments. A Girls’ Night In is, in many ways, a simple act of resistance — a declaration that we will face challenges side by side, and that hope is always stronger when shared.

On Saturday, 13 September from 10am – 1pm, the team from the AANT Centre will be right here at our Resort Node (between Michael Hill and Connor), capturing the real-life love stories of locals.
This special project is inspired by Love Stories, the new theatrical production from Trent Dalton, bestselling author of Boy Swallows Universe. The show brings to life Dalton’s incredible encounters with strangers on a Brisbane street corner, where he asked just one simple question: “Can you tell me a love story?” What followed was a collection of stories that were funny, heartbreaking, wise and deeply human.
Now it’s your turn.
Whether your love story began in Darwin, somewhere across the NT, or even right here at Casuarina Square, we’d love to hear it. And by sharing your story, you might even win tickets to see Love Stories live at the AANT Centre this October.

Casuarina Square has today announced the launch of a significant redevelopment project, with construction commenced on 21 July 2025. Branded under the campaign “Next Is Now,” this milestone marks the next evolution of Darwin’s largest shopping and lifestyle destination.
Designed to enhance customer convenience and deliver meaningful community benefits, the redevelopment will include expanded undercover parking and Woolworths Direct-to-Boot service.
“The ‘Next Is Now’ campaign reflects our commitment to future-focused progress,” added Dustie Tare, Marketing Manager at Casuarina Square. “It’s about showing our community that positive change is not something to wait for — it’s already happening, and it’s happening here.”
This project forms part of a broader investment in the long-term growth of both Casuarina Square and the Darwin region, driving local job creation, supporting economic development, and reinforcing the centre’s position as a key destination for shopping, dining, and community connection.
“This redevelopment is about creating a more accessible, comfortable, and modern experience for our customers,” said Elysia Billingham, Centre Manager at Casuarina Square. “With construction beginning this month, we’re excited to take the next step in shaping a centre that reflects the evolving needs of the Top End.”
