Say Cheese!

Contrary to popular belief, you can have cheese on an anti-inflammatory diet!  Cheese combats risk of cardiovascular disease mostly because it is an excellent source of vitamin K2 (highly effective  at directing calcium to your bones and away from arteries!)

So cheese IS good for us but the type and amount does matter.  Here’s what you need to know to eat cheese the healthy way:

1. Goat cheese is the easiest of the human digestive system, it’s lower in fat and calories! Try Burch Noir, Meredith Dairy – Harris Farms has a great selection!

2. If you’re going for raw cheese, opt for unprocessed, full-fat milk from pasture-fed cows, sheep or goats.

3. Keep servings to an 28 grams maximum.

4. Hard cheeses over soft.  Go for Feta, Parmesan, Pecorino and Romano.

5. Vegetables can help with the cheese vitamin absorption – eat your cheese with a carrot!Check out Norton Plaza Coles and Harris Farms.

Check out Casuarina Square's Coles and Woolworths for our large selection of cheeses!  Nourish Healthfoods has a healthy crackers and breads! Yum!
