Car Park Upgrade
We are upgrading the car park to bring the best and most modern retail features to Casuarina Square and deliver a premium shopping experience for Darwin. These changes will deliver greater accessibility and availability of prime undercover parking and includes:
- Improved traffic flow & line-marking
- Dynamic Parking Guidance System
- New signage and feature artwork
- Increased CCTV
- Lighting upgrade
- Extension of 4 hour timed parking to the basement car park
- Designated Staff Parking area January through November
A Northern Territory First
Casuarina Square will have the first car park in the Northern Territory to include a dynamic parking guidance system. Customers will see a red or green light above each parking space to indicate whether that space is available. This will help customers easily identify available parking spots, reducing congestion and time spent searching for a bay. This system will also direct cars to areas of the car park indicating the number of bays available.
New and Improved Features
The upgrade will bring a range of new and exciting features to Casuarina Square including improved lighting, updated signage and line marking to help drivers easily navigate their way around the carpark.
Celebrating the Top End
To celebrate the unique landscape and culture of the Northern Territory, we are working with local Indigenous artists to deliver a range of feature murals.
Changes to parking
The decision to upgrade the carpark has been made after studying the usage patterns of shoppers and in consultation with customers. As a result we will be extending timed parking to maximise efficiency and availability of parking spaces. This will mean a four-hour limit across key areas, including the Upper basement carpark and the Lower basement carpark. 4-hour parking limits will be in place in these areas. While parking will remain free for all customers, Wilson's Parking will issue a $65 fine for customers who exceed the four-hour time limit. To help customers make this transition, there will be a one-month grace period in November during which customers exceeding the timed parking limit will receive a warning notice. Official fines will be issued from December 3 and new signage will be included through the carpark to clearly indicate where parking spaces are timed. All day parking will be available in the open air car park.
Casuarina Square is not introducing paid parking for customers as part of this upgrade, and parking will remain completely free for all visitors. This is not a revenue raising exercise, and any fines that visitors receive will be owed to Wilson Security. Casuarina Square will not receive revenue from parking fines.
The works involved in the upgrade will run up until the end of November 2018. All works will take place outside of trading hours. Customer access to the carpark will not be affected.
